Seacourt Silver Racquet 2013
Feb 07, 2013 - Feb 10, 2013 Seacourt D Jones
Qualifying Event
The 40th appearance of the Silver racquet in the tennis calendar proved to be the strongest draw for many years with World Champion Rob Fahey, Bryn Sayers world No 2 and Ben Matthews world no 6 gracing our courts. As always the qualifiers precede the main event and with only 4 places available the competition is tough. Louis Gordon took on Nick Jones for the first qualification spot. The match could have gone either way with Nick pressurising Louis all the way but Louis held firm to win 6/3 6/5! Ladies world champion Claire Vigrass was unlucky not to go straight into the main event but qualified with a straight set win over Paul Weaver.
Adam Player seems to always have to qualify and qualify he did with a comfortable win over Chris Herbert. Prested assistant Lewis Williams showed everyone how much he has improved by qualifying for the main tournament but not after Giles Gunning gave him a huge scare by playing ten points better than his handicap.
