Over 70’s Singles and Doubles

What a great weekend of singles and doubles at WRTC- The standard of tennis was of the highest calibre and the fitness of the players was truly remarkable, I would be happy just to be playing tennis at 70 let alone competing in multiple matches over the three days! Singles - Philip Shaw-Hamilton (Moreton) bt John East (Wellington) 8/2 in an incredible final with many games going to deuce. John put PSH under pressure throughout the match but PSH had the edge with a accurate left hand railroad and won the title 8-2. We were treated to an exceptional final between Richard Moore & Alan Oliver and Phillip Shaw-Hamilton & Jill Newby that could have gone either way but Richard Moore and Alan Oliver held their nerve and won the big points to take the title 8-4. Well played to all the competitors and thank you to T&RA for sponsoring the event.
