There were 12 entries for this event split neatly into the two handicap bandings
Radley player Mike Armstrong emerged from the 50-54 section as a strong contender along with Leamington’s Bob Compton who duly met in the final.
Bob had chances to clinch the match at 5 all in the second set but squandered good opportunities through fatigue whilst Mike’s stamina never wavered, coming through 6/3 in the final set – due in no small part to a portion of sticky toffee pudding devoured over lunch!!
Home produced Craig Swallow never really looked in danger in the 55-59 section and after taking the first set 6/5 in the final he raced away from another home player Nick Herd to take the title.
