*Brodie Cup Final 2024

It is hard to believe that none of the matches went to three sets. The scoreline didn’t reflect how close the Final was. To say that Radley were lucky to win the first three matches would be unfair given how well they played, however, I’m sure they would agree that 3-0 didn’t do justice to how well Bristol had played.

Bristol did win the battle of the spectators. They had over twenty supporters and the Radley contingency struggled to be heard over the overwhelming support from the Bristol crowd. In fact, it was the best attended final we have had with almost 50 people spilling out of the dedans and down the side galleries.

Many thanks to Pol Roger for their generous contributions: courts, marking, lunch and of course the finest wine available in the UK if not the world. Also a great thank you to the Clarks (Ros and Al), and The Thicknesses (Jane and Philip), who were wonderful hosts and provided lunch on behalf of Pol Roger. Thank you to the T&RA for their organisation and continued support of the competition and the game as a whole. Thank you to the two Bennies - Ben Taylor-Matthews and Ben Coleman - It is always a pleasure to have BTM return home, and the pair took on the scoring responsibilities for a marker who had lost his voice. Finally, thank you to the two squads from Radley and Bristol... they were all great sports and a pleasure to have at the Hyde.
