UPDATE (12 November) from Chris Davies, Chief Executive
In a mostly Seacourt affair, young rising stars, Will Flynn and Max Trueman, played Tennis in advance of their years to see off Luke Danby and Adam Dolman in straight sets, 6/1 6/3. Will and Max have an enticing match with Petworth professionals, Tom Durack and Louis Gordon in the first round.
The second qualifier saw both pairs in the ascendency. Zak Eadle (Jesmond Dene) and Craig Greenhalgh (Oxford) started the stronger, taking the first set 6/3. But Nino Merola (Radley) and Lewis Williams (Leamington) responded in kind, levelling the match by taking the second set to love. A thrilling third set saw Nino and Lewis win the deciding eleventh game, taking the set 6/5 and earn a first-round match against Rob Shenkman and John Woods Casey.

Singles Qualifying - see results below
The star of qualifying was Seacourt’s Will Flynn. He first overcame a tough match against Prested professional, Mark Hobbs in three long sets. He then beat Radley professional, Nino Merola, reversing a 1/6 deficit in the first set to level 6/1 and then carried the momentum to win through 6/2. Will mixed up his game with some powerful volleys and increasingly finding his targets. Will’s reward is to play Holyport professional, Josh Smith, in the first round of the Main Draw.
Jesmond Dene assistant professional, Zak Eadle, is also through after Wellington’s Adam Player withdrew through injury. Neil Mackenzie awaits Zak in the first round.
A tight match between Oxford professional, Craig Greenhalgh, and Queen’s junior Bertie Vallat saw Craig win in straight sets, but Bertie fought all the way and very nearly took the match into a decider, finally losing the second 5/6. Manchester’s (and Bathurst super sub) Rob Shenkman awaits Craig in the Mian Draw.
Final qualifier was Radley’s Ben Yorston, a member of the successful GB Under 26 Team, who fought a close match with Petworth professional, Tom Durack. The match swung both ways as both players played stylish Tennis, cutting down rather than the power game. Tom was ahead but Ben came back and carried the momentum in the third. Ultimately Ben found his targets more successfully than Tom. Melbourne professional, John Woods-Casey, awaits Ben in the first round.
UPDATE (10 November): William Flynn and Craig Greenhalgh are through to the main draw.
UPDATE (9 November, 1:00PM): Adam Player unfortunately had to dropout of the Qualifiers due to injury, which automatically advances his opponent, Zak Eadle, to the first Singles round. Eadle will be facing off with Neil Mackenzie on Sunday, 13 November, at 6:00pm.
