Amateur Doubles Handicap Tournament 2013

The Amateur Doubles attracted a bumper entry of 26 pairs in which over a third of the pairings’ handicaps were 39 or below.
Several pairs emerged from their leagues unbeaten but it was Patrick and Rory Sutton who caught the eye.
Having disposed of Andrew Hamilton and Norman Hyde 6/0 in the quarter finals they came through a gripping match against Andy Dixon and Ian Steele 6/4 in the semis.
In the final they faced Martin Trees and veteran George Hayward who had done well to defeat Bill Simcox and Ben Burbidge 6/3 in the quarter finals.
However there was no hiding place this time as the Suttons took the title 6/2 in front of a full dedans.
One of the best Open Doubles held at Leamington in recent times both in the quantity and quality of the entrants.
