Oct 22, 2022 - Oct 23, 2022 Manchester Rob Horn & Mark Briers
Manchester Mixed Doubles, Saturday 22nd October 2022
*Tournament write up provided by Mark Briers
The second Manchester mixed doubles consisted of three groups of five pairs playing each other one game in their group to fifteen. Three hands each, one serve and American scoring helped create plenty of even games all played in tremendous spirit.
Once all group stages were completed the Quarter and semi-finals:
Willis / Manton-Jones bt Oates / Scott-Geddes
Deakin / Dymoke bt Lumley / Hande
The final saw Georgie Willis and Jules Manton-Jones defeating India Deakin and Max Dymoke 21-19.
Two exhibition matches were played to complete the days play.
The ladies match consisted of I. Deakin, T. Lumley, G. Willis and F. Fletcher followed by the men’s, J. Manton-Jones, M. Dymoke, T. Taylor and J. Mitchell.
Over eight hours of play on the brilliant Manchester court followed by a great social atmosphere in the club with pizzas and drinks.
The city didn’t disappoint those who went on later I’m sure!
The atmosphere amongst everyone will hopefully encourage a few more players to participate next year. To see the ladies game grow we need to see schools other than Cheltenham represented.
Thank you to all who made the effort and didn’t get nose bleeds so far north.
Finally, a huge thank you to the Manchester Tennis and Racquets club for allowing us the use of the club and the courts to help make this such an enjoyable tournament which will stay in the Rackets calendar.
