The only mixed tournament hosted at Queen’s will this year run alongside the Brown Advisory British Open. With matches played on Saturday 15th and a big party on Saturday night organised by the one and only Ben Stevens, this is not one to miss.

Last year the T&RA Mixed Open was renamed the Andrina Webb Mixed Doubles in honour of Andrina and her true love and passion for the games she served for years as T&RA membership secretary. In her spirit, the tournament is centred around fun, social and good-natured games that see World Champions play alongside beginners.

The tournament was originally inaugurated in 2019 when India Deakin and Felix Clarke took home the Mixed Open trophy, with Georgie Willis and Rory Giddins winning last year after two years of Covid-19 postponement.

In 2022 it was officially rebranded to commemorate Andrina Webb, the extraordinary membership secretary who was a wonderful friend to many at the club and the T&RA. Fiercely loyal to the association and always willing to go the extra mile, Andrina was a true champion of ladies and mixed rackets, and it is hoped this event would make her smile even more broadly than usual.

With 12 pairs, a great turnout considering that the Ladies Real Tennis World Doubles Championship was being held simultaneously at The Oratory, it was well attended by beginners and seasoned players alike. Special shoutout to the T&RA’s own Jemima Murray-Poore for filling in at the last-minute for her third ever time on court.

The group stages saw lots of beginners play their first ever tournament matches with plentiful rallies and no ‘serve and return’ games. The men helped keep the ball in play, with James Rossiter and Freddie White standing out as true mixed players with elite etiquette.

Group 3 saw the most closely contested battles with both Davis/Rowell and Shenkman/Annetts just struggling to convert against the brother-sister Jennings duo.

After usurping the second seeds Shenkman and Annetts, the Jennings went on to lose in a tightly fought schoolboys and girls semi-final against Olivia Vyvyan-Robinson and Robbie Slatter. In the other semi-final Amelia Drayson’s serve proved too strong, bagelling Honor Cockroft and Max Dymoke who only showed up too late in the second game.
