T&RA Chairman
London, July 2015. At the conclusion of the AGM in November, and after nearly six years as Chairman, William Maltby will step down. He will be succeeded by David Watson.
David has a background in both games, winning the Public Schools Rackets Doubles for Marlborough in 1976 and losing finalist in 1977. In recent times he has focused on playing Tennis. He is the Over 50s British Tennis Champion, a title he has won on four occasions. Furthermore, he has captained the British Over 50s Tennis team to three successive victories in the Cockram Cup, most recently in May 2015. He has enjoyed a successful business career as finance director of a number of large financial services companies, most notably M&G group plc and Aviva’s General Insurance Business. He has been an Elected Director of the T&RA for the last three years and he lead the Ladies Participation Review.
William commented: I am delighted to be able to hand the reins to such a capable successor. David has been a friend and rival on both the Rackets and Tennis court for nearly 40 years.
David added: William has been a remarkable Chairman and will be a very hard act to follow. He has been a significant positive influence on both games and he leaves the T&RA in sound health. I am very proud to have been asked to succeed him.
