Prested Cup Under 20s
The handicap event
9 of the 10 entrants were from Prested, shame not to get more faces from other clubs but his didn't stop a terrific days tennis. We had two groups of 5 with the winners and runners-up going into the semi-finals. We had a great days tennis, special mention must go to Dylan Gerrard from MURTC/Hatfield who played superbly considering it was his first time on the court. Young Jack Mills had a great run in this years event narrowly losing it he semi-finals but he had a terrific event and played superbly. The final as you might of guessed was an all Prested affair pitting Fin Ramjane against Calum Mills. Calum who has been on fine form was playing some lovely controlled tennis all day but he was up against Fin who is now very use to being in finals of competitions!! Fin ran out the winner 6/3 and picks up yet another tennis title and at just 12years old, the future continues to look very exciting for the Ramjane boys.
The level event
We had a great turnout this year with three players with handicaps below 20, with players coming from Hyde, Petworth, Manchester, Hatfield, Jesmond and Radley. Delighted with the turnout and the standard of tennis. Ben Boddington who was seeded (1) for the event holding a very impressive handicap of 11 but Charlie Braham and Levi Gale both playing off an impressive 18. The big match in the round robin was Charlie v's Levi to decide who went through to play Ben in the final. The match was about as close as it could be and Levi edged it 5/4. The final was Ben v's Levi and the spectators were ready for a cracking match!! The first set went on for about an hour as neither player gave up on any ball, some very athletic retrieving and powerful winners made for an excellent watch. Ben took the first set 6/5, the second was slightly more straight forward as he wrapped up the match and the Championship 6/5 6/3. A massive thanks to all entrants and a big thank you to Mike Carter for creating the event and supplying the wonderful prizes.
