Neil MacKenzie storms the Prested Cup
Great work Neil!
Tournament Report :
18 youngsters took part in this years event. We had 3 tiers and the first was our 'B Grade' handicap event, for children under the age of 12. 8 in total were in this event which was won by Henry Stevinson from Manchester. Well done to all the entrants for playing as well as they did at that tender age. It is a credit to them and their clubs. The second event was the 'A Grade' handicap - again 8 entrants took part in this event and it was a very exciting tournament! Murray Lane Prested's 'next big thing' took on Abi Claydon, ex top lawn tennis player who has recently taken her hand to Real tennis. Both players have superb talent and showed it with some very exciting rallies and some great volleying. Murray took his second Real Tennis title at the tender age of just 14. He holds a handicap of 46 and his improvement has been unbelievable! He took the title 8/3 and it's safe to say that both players have very exciting futures! Neil Mackenzie took the level crown with a very one sided victory, beating Will Shortidge in straight sets without dropping a game. Sadly the number 2 seed pulled out so the event wasn't as close as it had originally promised! But congratulations to Neil for winning and well done to all competitors. We look forward to seeing you all next year and increasing the entry further.
