Michael Huband

Aug 27, 2013

Passed away peacefully on Aug 21 at age 73. Although taken too early he lived a full life. He will be missed by his deeply loved wife, Ann Bennett, his children Paul, Louisa (Craig Moffat) and Kate (Todd Barr), his grandchildren Gabriel, Harry, Bella and Lilly, his sister Anne Brunstrom (Terry) his brother Tim Blaiklock (predeceased by Sally), and his many beloved in-laws Paul and Marilyn Bennett, Sue and Michael Brown, John and Diana Bennett, Barbara and Danny Heffernan, Kristin Bennett, Hilary Bennett and Linda Brunette. He had a long and satisfying career at the Bank of Montreal. Upon retirement eight years ago, he dedicated much time to charitable works close to his heart, most notably the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex and the Atlantic Salmon Federation. Dad/Michael/The Rat was adored by many for his warm and unassuming way, his subtle sense of humour and his quiet devotion to those he loved. In the stormy sea of life, he was a solid anchor - always ready for a game of backgammon, a good joke or a glass of single malt on the porch. His passions were George Bernard Shaw, salmon rivers, steep ski hills, the Maine coast, photographing his grandchildren, golf anywhere with his buddies, the Montreal Racket Club and spending time with friends and family. The family will hold a memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation (mgh.foundation@muhc.mcgill.ca)
