Real Tennis moves forward in Haarlem

The Dutch effort to secure their own court isat last regaining momentum. Almost five years ago the owner of huis ter kleef (the City of Haarlem) permittedthestichting huis ter kleef (foundation) to acquire the huis ter kleef monument dating from 1560 and to restore the court (de kaatsbaan). Until recently a stumbling block has beenagreeing a price withthe city. However, in the last few weeks an agreement has been reached with Haarlem, meaningthe fundraising phase for the restoration can now start in earnest. The money to acquire ownership of the kaatsbaan is already guaranteed,so this really is a flying start andrapidly becoming a very serious project!
