Changes to Category 1 Handicaps
The International Tennis Committee (ITC) has approved a change to the Category 1 Threshold from 5.4 to 10.4. This is to counteract the general increase of handicaps worldwide that has occurred since Category 1 was introduced over a decade ago.
This means that players between handicaps of 5.4 and 10.4 will now only be able to have their handicap moved based on results in IHSC-Sanctioned tournaments, excluding social and IHSC-non sanctioned tournaments. The list of IHSC-Sanctioned tournaments can be found on the match entry page on RTO - if you are not a match administrator and
would like a full list please let me know.
The universal familiar court advantage will continue to apply to Category 1 players, which now also includes players between 5.4 and 10.4 handicap.
Rubber banding of doubles handicaps does not apply to Category 1 players.
