Browning Cup 2014

Mar 26, 2014
Rod McNaughtan beat Ben Ronaldson at Canford

The semi-finals earlier in the morning saw Ben Ronaldson beat Claire Vigrass; followed by Rod McNaughtan beating newcomer Josh Smith.

Ben made the early ground in the final before Rod stamped his authority to take the first set 6/3, hitting a series of accurate shots to the grille. Ben again led in the second before Rod recovered to 3-3; but it was Ben who punished any loose serves with spectacular forces to the Dedans to draw level, taking the second set 6/4. With both players playing at maximum capacity, it was Rod who had the strength to establish the running in the deciding third set taking a 5-0 lead. Ben rallied but it was taking its toll and Rod took the set 6/1 on his second match point.

Canford's Headmaster, Ben Vessey, presented to Browning Cup to Manchester's Rod McNaughtan to round off a perfect day for the victor.
