British Junior Doubles Championships
Once again the Junior Doubles Championships were held at the Holyport Club with juniors from many different clubs taking part over the weekend.
The Under 12 section finalists were Holyport pair Charlie Enticknap & Henry Daly v Max Jones & James Hellyer from Seacourt. Ater a spirited performance from Charlie & Henry the Seacourt pair proved too strong and won the title 6/3 6/3.
In the under 15 section the pre-tournament favourites didn’t make it through to the final which ended up as an all Seacourt affair. Max Jones & William Flynn came up against friends and rivals George Charlton & Hugh Thomas. The first set was quite close with many deuce games but in the end the slightly older pairing of George & Hugh ran away with it to become British Junior Champions 6/2 6/0.
The under 19 section saw a major jump in the standard of play with some exceptional tennis. The round robin group resulted in a final between Manchester pairing Robert Shenkman & Guy Maxwell and Radley pair Felix White & Charles Stephens. Although the Final seemed to go to deuce in nearly every game it was always the Manchester pair coming out on top and going on to win and take the title 6/0 6/1.
Thanks as usual go to the Holyport Club for hosting the event and to Neptune for their generous sponsorship. Also a special thanks to Holyport professionals Claire Fahey and John Evans for all their hard work.
