Bristol Real Tennis Club - Opportunity for a Professional

Update Dec 26, 2024
Published Dec 24, 2021

Applications are invited for the position of Professional at the Bristol Real Tennis Club from March 2022, to work alongside current staff.

BRTC opened in 1997. The club is proud of its court, extensive social facilities and its surroundings. As an independent club it is situated across the Clifton Suspension Bridge as part of Clifton College's Beggar Bush sports complex. It has extensive free parking on site. Bristol is an attractive, thriving and dynamic city, with extensive cultural, educational and sporting facilities.

Recently, there has been a significant influx of new and younger members and the court is busier than it has been for years. An additional Professional is now required to be fully involved in all aspects of running an ambitious and successful club. Alongside the more standard roles of coaching at all levels, marking matches, making balls and repairing and maintaining racquets, he or she will need to be actively involved in working with the BRTC Committee to promote the club in all areas. This will include social media, marketing, links with the community and organising matches and competitions.

The key attributes of the successful candidate will be a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, integrity, flexibility, motivation and enjoyment of working in an active and ambitious environment. He or she must be well-organised, friendly, reliable and able to contribute to a positive, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. There must be genuine commitment to making BRTC an outstanding club.

The remuneration package will be incentive-based, rewarding high levels of membership and court utilisation, and will depend upon experience and qualifications.

The successful applicant will be entitled to four weeks annual leave plus a reasonable amount of time to play in domestic tournaments. Developing professional knowledge and skills will be supported, and the Professionals will be encouraged to play competitively on their own behalf and for the club. There will be an annual appraisal, incorporating performance review and personal development.

Please apply by email to the Chairman, Clive Archer on clivearcher7@hotmail.com by 5pm on Friday 7th January 2022. Interviews for the role will take place in Bristol later in January 2022. Informal enquiries may be made either to Clive Archer on 07854740188 or to our current Consultant Professional, Chris Ronaldson on 07837951789.
