Alan Giddins Elected Club Chair of The Queen’s Club; Shares Tournament Update
The Queen’s Club Board elected Alan Giddins as its new Club Chair in late March.
Alan Giddens, who became the Club Chair of The Queen’s Club in March, shared a message about his new position with club members as follows:
25 March 2025
“Dear Fellow Members,
It is with great pleasure that I write to you as the new Chair of the Club, having been elected by the Board at its meeting last Thursday.
For those of you who do not know me, I first became a member of the club in my early 20s. I then rejoined in 2016. My wife, Jo, is a member, as are our three adult sons. I have a passion for all of the sports played at Queen’s, and have been Chair of the Real Tennis Committee for the last four years.
Tournament Update
We are now 11 weeks away from hosting a major women’s lawn tennis tournament at Queen’s for the first time since 1973. We already have a great list of players confirmed, including two of the current Grand Slam holders, Madison Keys (Australian Open) and Barbora Krejcikova (Wimbledon), alongside two former Grand Slam winners, Naomi Osaka (Australian and US Open) and Emma Raducanu (US Open). Joining them are Jessica Pegula (2024 US Open finalist) and Katie Boulter (British No 1). We have seen a great take-up of tickets by the public, with some days already sold out.
In the men’s tournament we similarly have a strong line up, including two players ranked in the top ten in the world, Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper, alongside Holger Rune and Ben Shelton. Further players are due to be announced shortly. Again, the take-up of tickets has been fantastic.
As announced in January, HSBC have entered into a four-year sponsorship partnership through to 2028.
The Queen's Club Estate
We can all be extremely proud of the amazing facilities at Queen’s. Equally, it is now some time since the Club last undertook a long-term planning exercise for the Queen’s Estate, linked to an updated strategy for the Club.
I see this as the key priority for me as Chair of the Club, and a process which will involve not just the Board, but also the Club Committees, and will require extensive consultation with Members over the next 12 to 18 months. It is my hope that we will be able to provide Members with a long term and exciting vision for the development of Queen’s.
Finally, I would like to thank Joan Major for the huge commitment and contribution she has made to the Club as Chair, something which was widely acknowledged at the AGM last week.
I look forward to meeting many of you in person over the coming months.
Best wishes
Alan Giddins
