A tribute from the T&RA of Rob Fahey through the years in video
- "Rob Fahey, on behalf of its Members, the T&RA applauds your distinguished contribution across the years. So many tributes have been made and many more to come and congratulations on reaching your yet another (tour nineteenth) British Open Singles Final in your retirement year. The world of Tennis owes you a huge debt of gratitude. As a player, you have been peerless. As a coach, you have nurtured your enthusiasm for the game across multiple generations. As a Club Professional, in more recent times, your personality draws in more members. Finally, your support for the Investing in Professionals programme has encouraged your fellow professionals to join the mission to support the future of Real Tennis. Whilst many people demonstrate triskaidekaphobia, you have embraced the number thirteen as the key to your accomplishments. You have won 13 World Championships (two successful challenges and eleven successful defences). You have won the British Open Singles Championships on thirteen occasions, six times a finalist, your first in 1991. You have thirteen British Open Doubles Championships to your name, seven times a finalist, your first in 1990. So, in total that is thirteen times as an unsuccessful finalist, not that you measure these metrics, but 39 British Finals in total throughout your illustrious career. Robert Fahey MBE OAM, you are a legend!" - Chris Davies, CEO T&RA
- "Robert, on behalf of the Australian Real Tennis Association and the entire Australian real tennis community, we send you our deepest gratitude for your unparalleled contribution to not only real tennis in Australia, but to the entire game. It is hard to put into a few words the enormous debt to you that we feel in Australia, for all the pleasure and inspiration that your tennis career has given us. As your home National Association, we look forward to welcoming formally celebrating your achievements when you are next in Australia. But until then, you have much to celebrate – which we know you will do extremely well!!! Very best wishes "- ALISTAIR CURLEY
- "It's hard to forget how he burst onto the scene, with his wicked railroad and wonderful mainwall forcing. Unfortunately for the rest of us these seemed to get better and better as time went on!" - Wayne Davies
- "If it wasn't for Rob Fahey, so many others, including me, would have stood a chance. #Just too good!" - Nick Wood
- "When I started playing in 2002, I saw Rob playing in his pomp. As I improved, I was gutted that he’d be ‘on the way down’ and I would have just missed the opportunity to play against him. 10 years later, he was still there and I am honoured to have been able to share a court with, compete with, and sometimes beat the best player of all time. Happy Retirement!" - Ben Taylor-Matthews
